The rules behind every seal
The AIBOOKS Making Standard
The rules behind every Making Label, Making Seal and Certificate of Making on AIBOOKS: what each seal means, what evidence stands behind it, who checks it, how anyone can verify it, and how anyone can challenge it.
1 · What this standard is for
A reader should know how a book was made before buying it. This standard says how AIBOOKS describes the share of the writing done by a person and by an AI, what evidence that description must rest on, and what happens when it is wrong. It applies to every book sold on AIBOOKS, including the books AIBOOKS publishes itself.
2 · The four seals
Every book carries one of four seals, one for each step of the Making Label. The metal follows the human hand: gold is the most human, copper the most AI. No metal is a grade of quality. Each one says how the book was made.
| Seal | Step | Who drafted the words | What the person must have done |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | 1 · Human-written, AI-assisted | A person wrote the text. AI drafted none of it beyond scattered words and fixes. | Wrote the book. AI may have helped research, suggest, check, translate a phrase or build the index. |
| Silver | 2 · Co-written | A person and an AI each drafted large parts. The AI drafted less than about half of the final text. | Drafted a large part and shaped the whole. |
| Bronze | 3 · AI-drafted, human-directed | The AI drafted most of the final text. | Set the idea and the plan, directed every part, and chose and edited the text. |
| Copper | 4 · AI-made, human-curated | The AI drafted nearly all of the final text. | Chose the subject or the work, checked it, and stands behind it. |
When a book sits between two steps, it takes the step with more AI. The seal never claims more human work than the record shows.
3 · The Making Label
Every book carries a Making Label before it goes on sale. The label names the seal and step, the human part, the AI's part, the tools used, how the book was checked, the edition, and the certificate number. The author writes the human part and the AI's part in plain words and signs that they are true.
4 · The evidence: the making record
A seal rests on the making record, not on a detector. No tool can reliably tell AI writing from human writing, so AIBOOKS does not use one to award or refuse a seal.
The making record is what shows how the book was really made: the AI sessions in which it was written, the drafts and the version history, and the author's signed statement. It is kept for as long as the edition is sold and for at least three years after. AIBOOKS shows it to an outside reviewer on request, in confidence.
5 · How sure the certificate is: three levels
Every certificate states its level, so the reader knows what was checked and by whom.
- Declared. The author's signed statement. AIBOOKS has not yet read it against the making record.
- Verified. A named person at AIBOOKS read the label against the making record and the finished book.
- Reviewed. An outside reviewer with no stake in the book read the making record and the book, and agreed with the label.
A book goes on sale with at least a Declared label. A seal on the cover needs at least Verified.
6 · Who issues the seal, and when AIBOOKS checks its own books
AIBOOKS issues the seals and the certificates itself. They are the store's own seals, not an independent certification. AIBOOKS is part of Lund Studio LLC, which also publishes some of the books on the shelf. When AIBOOKS certifies a book it publishes, the certificate says so on its face. Those books follow this standard without exception, and their making records are open to an outside reviewer on request.
The person who checks a label is named on the certificate.
7 · The certificate
Every sealed book carries a Certificate of Making right after its Making Label, in the EPUB, the PDF and the online reader. It shows:
- The seal and step, the human part, the AI's part and the tools.
- The level, and who checked it.
- The edition, and its fingerprint. The fingerprint is a SHA-256 hash of the edition's text: the chapter titles and the plain text of every paragraph, joined by line breaks. Change one word and the fingerprint changes.
- The certificate number, the date it was issued and the version of this standard.
- A code that opens the certificate's entry in the public register.
The number has four digits and a check digit: in Nº 0019-7, the 7 checks the 0019. A mistyped number fails before it is looked up.
8 · The public register
Every certificate is listed in the register at booksai.store/?view=register, with its number, book, seal, level, edition, fingerprint, issue date and status. Anyone can look up a number there.
A certificate has one of three statuses:
- Valid. The label stands.
- Corrected. The label was changed, and the change is logged.
- Withdrawn. The seal was taken back, and the reason is logged.
Every change is written in the register's corrections log, with its date and reason. Nothing is deleted.
9 · New editions
When the text of a book changes, its fingerprint changes, and the register records the new edition. When the change moves the book to another step, the old certificate is marked Corrected and a new certificate with a new number is issued.
10 · Challenging a label
Anyone may challenge a label: a reader, an author or a stranger. Write to AIBOOKS with the certificate number and what you believe is wrong. Every certificate in the register has a Challenge this label link.
AIBOOKS answers within 14 days. If the label was wrong, it is corrected and logged, and anyone who bought the book under the wrong label can have their money back.
11 · Withdrawal
A seal is withdrawn when its making record cannot be produced, or when a label is found to have been knowingly false. The book comes off sale, the register marks the certificate Withdrawn with the reason, and buyers can have their money back.
12 · What a seal does not mean
A seal describes how a book was made. It is not a review, it does not grade the book's quality, and it does not check the book's facts unless the label says so. It is not a copyright opinion. It does not come from any guild, government or standards body.
13 · Changes to this standard
This is version 1.0, published 26 October 2026. Each new version is dated and published here with what changed. A certificate stays under the version it was issued under until it is reissued.
